The BC Services Card has now replaced the CareCard, providing citizens with a secure, government-issued identification (ID) that can be used to access government services such as health care. As of Feb 1, 2018 the CareCard will no longer be accepted as evidence of enrolment in the Medical Services Plan (MSP). And in addition to British Columbia, Feb 1, 2018 marks the date that other provinces will be directed to no longer accept the BC CareCard as evidence of enrolment MSP.
Over 3.8 million BC residents have obtain their BC Services Card and renewed their enrolment in the Medical Services Plan (MSP). They now have government ID that has enhanced security features to help improve patient safety, reduce card misuse, and protect personal identity. It can also be conveniently combined with a BC driver’s license.
